About Mark
Mark Albertson is an estate planning attorney with 23 years of experience. In addition to family estate planning, Mark’s practice emphasis is on Elder Law, Special Needs Planning and Guardianships. With his comprehensive knowledge of the issues involved in Elder Law, Veteran’s Benefits and Special Needs Planning, Mark is a unique estate planning attorney.
Mark is Senior Counsel with Albertson Law Group, P.S., a five attorney, 43 year old law firm, with offices in Kent and Bellevue Washington.
In previous positions, Mark was a psychiatric social worker and served as Executive Director of The Center for Conflict Management, a nonprofit mediation and arbitration service. Mark has also served as a consultant with nonprofit organizations on board development, planned giving and fundraising, and has spoken nationally on these subjects.
Mark received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1982, and his Juris Doctorate Degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1987. Mark served honorably in both the United States Navy and the Texas Air National Guard.
Mark is a member of the Washington State Bar Association; Oregon State Bar; Alaska State Bar Association; American Bar Association; King County Bar Association; Is a Charter Member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners; National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; and is a Charter Member of the Estate Planning Council of South King County. Mark is an active member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Mark is currently Chair of the Advisory Board of the School of Psychology, Family, and Community at Seattle Pacific University. Mark is also currently President of the Estate Planning Council of South King County, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Senior Housing Assistance Group (SHAG), a nonprofit affordable senior housing organization. Mark is also on the Board of Directors of Angelcare Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that provides mentoring to women recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Mark is Past-President of the Kent Downtown Partnership, Past President of the Rotary Club of Southcenter, Past President of the Highline Community Hospital Foundation, Past President of the Kent Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Mediation Consortium of Washington State, a former board member of the National Alliance for the Mental Ill and a former Trustee of the Washington State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.
